Effective Teaching and Learning of Social Studies Education for Nation-Building in the Face of the Covid-19 Pandemic
Abstract: Effective teaching occurs when all education stakeholders including parents, policy makers, community members and educators share responsibility for continuous improvement and students’ achievement. Social studies education is a discipline that focuses on man and his environment. Effective teaching and learning occur when teacher explore appropriate teaching method and relevant instruction material in teaching and learning of social studies. A good and conductive environment for learning, teachers-students relationship is very important, effective classroom management and also the use of modern teaching and learning facilities and well structured and equipped facilities for learning and based on the recent lesson learnt from the covid-19, both teachers and student need to be oriented on the use of online tools for teaching and learning. Recommendations among others are government should employ more professional teachers and rise more structures with well equip modern teaching tool to curb with the rising population of school children in the country.
